This travertine bathroom floor Dorset project completed by Simali Stone involved a full removal and replacement of a failed bathroom floor. The original floor had deteriorated due to moisture and structural issues, requiring a complete rebuild before tiling could begin.

Removal of Damaged Bathroom Floor

The existing bathroom floor was removed after signs of failure, including loose tiles and moisture damage. Once lifted, it became clear that sections of the timber subfloor were no longer structurally sound and required repair before any new tiling could be installed.

Subfloor Repair and Preparation

We repaired and reinforced the timber subfloor to create a solid base for tiling. An anti-fracture matting system was then installed to prevent movement from transferring through to the finished tile surface.

This stage is critical in ensuring long-term durability, particularly in bathrooms where moisture and temperature changes are common.

Travertine Bathroom Floor Dorset Installation

The new floor was installed using natural travertine opus tiles, creating a traditional and timeless finish. The varied tile sizes in the opus pattern provide a natural flow across the floor and work particularly well in bathroom settings.

Each tile was carefully set, aligned and spaced to achieve a consistent and professional finish.

Grouting and Sealing

Once the tiles were set, the floor was fully grouted and sealed. Sealing the travertine helps protect the surface from moisture and enhances the natural tones within the stone.

Completed Bathroom Floor

The finished result is a strong, level and visually striking bathroom floor that will perform well for years to come. The travertine opus pattern provides a natural stone finish that suits both traditional and modern interiors.
